Connecting Instagram through Meta's Facebook Login for Business, the Professional-account requirement, and what's currently gated behind Meta approval.
Overview
Instagram connects through Meta's Facebook Login for Business — a Facebook-based authorization, not a direct Instagram login. Creaon uses your Facebook login only to find the Instagram Professional account linked to a Page you manage; it doesn't post to or manage that Page itself.
Account requirements
Your Instagram account must be a Professional account (Business or Creator) linked to a Facebook Page you manage. If Creaon can't find one during connection, it stops with a clear message rather than connecting the wrong thing — set this up on Meta's side (Instagram account type, then link it to a Facebook Page) and try again.
Connect Instagram
From Connected Accounts, choose Connect Instagram. You're sent to Facebook to sign in and approve access; Facebook hands a token back to Creaon, which then looks up the Page and Instagram account tied to your login and finishes the connection.
What Creaon can access
- Basic profile information for your Instagram account.
- The Facebook Page linked to it (used only to find and act on the Instagram account itself).
- Permission to publish to your Instagram account.
- Permission to read Page engagement and Instagram insights.
Analytics
Instagram insights require additional Meta permissions and approval beyond what's requested at connection time. Depending on the current approval status of Creaon's Meta access, this may not be active yet even though your account is connected — Creaon tells you plainly rather than showing fabricated numbers.
Publishing
Instagram publishing supports one JPEG image (a feed post) or one MP4/MOV video (a Reel) per post, through Content Studio or a scheduled Calendar slot. A connection made before publishing permission was added needs to reconnect — Creaon shows "Reconnect Instagram to enable publishing" in that case.
Disconnect & reconnect
Disconnecting removes the connection from Creaon and revokes the token with Meta. Reconnecting repeats the Facebook Login for Business flow and re-checks the linked Page and Instagram account.
Troubleshooting
- "We couldn't find an Instagram professional account linked to a Facebook Page you manage" — your Instagram account isn't set to Professional, or isn't linked to a Page you manage on Facebook. Fix that on Meta's side, then reconnect.
- Status shows "Reconnect needed" or a publishing notice — reconnect to refresh the permission grant.
- Insights aren't showing — this can be gated behind Meta approval independently of whether the account is connected (see Analytics above).
