YouTube
Connecting a YouTube channel, what Creaon can access, and how automatic publishing actually works — including a visibility default worth knowing.
Overview
Connecting YouTube links a specific channel to Creaon for analytics and publishing. This is a separate authorization from signing into Creaon itself — even if you use "Sign in with Google" for your Creaon account, that login and the YouTube connection under Connected Accounts are two different grants. Connecting YouTube here is what actually lets Creaon read channel data or publish video.
Connect YouTube
From Connected Accounts, choose Connect YouTube. You're sent to Google's own consent screen — sign in with (or select) the Google account that owns the channel you want to connect, and approve the permissions. Creaon never sees your Google password.
What Creaon can access
One authorization grants three permissions at once:
- Identify your channel and check a video's processing status.
- Upload videos on your behalf.
- Read your channel's analytics.
Creaon stores your channel's name and channel ID as the connected account's display name — nothing else about your Google account.
Analytics
Once connected, channel and video performance — views, engagement, watch time, and subscriber changes — syncs into Analytics & Performance. Audience age/gender breakdown syncs separately and refreshes roughly weekly rather than every sync.
Publishing
YouTube publishing is video-only. Attach a video to a Calendar slot ahead of its scheduled time, and Creaon uploads it automatically when it's due; without one attached, the slot falls back to a manual reminder instead. A freshly uploaded video can stay processing briefly before YouTube confirms it's actually live — Creaon checks back rather than marking it published early.
A video uploaded through automatic (scheduled) publishing is always uploaded as Private. Creaon doesn't yet have a way to set Public or Unlisted on a scheduled post, and defaulting to Public for an unattended upload is the one mistake a retry can't undo — so it deliberately doesn't guess. Publishing directly from Content Studio's own publish panel is the way to choose the video's visibility explicitly.
Disconnect & reconnect
Disconnecting removes the connection from Creaon and revokes the authorization with Google. A connection made before video publishing existed may be missing the upload permission — Creaon shows a "Reconnect YouTube to enable video publishing" notice in that case; reconnecting re-runs the same authorization with the current, full permission set.
Troubleshooting
- Status shows "Reconnect needed" — the connection expired or was revoked on Google's side; reconnect to restore it.
- Connected the wrong channel — disconnect, then reconnect and choose the correct Google account on Google's consent screen.
- A scheduled video published but isn't visible to viewers — check its visibility on YouTube directly; automatic publishing uploads as Private by design (see above).
